Dont shoot the messenger, but word through the grapevine is he has been booted for peddling his mufflers. I hope this isnt true??? If it is, I worry for others whom have legitimate upgrade products to sell.

I have been very busy these past weeks, and have not had a large amount of time to post / monitor the BBS (I was away for most of last week).

Aggressively promoting and marketing your own brand of products, using our BBS is explicitly prohibited in the BBS rules. The Pelican Parts BBS is a forum that is supported solely by sales from the commercial catalog side. Any activity on the BBS that threatens or detracts from sales in the catalog is prohibited, as it directly threatens the continued existance of this forum.

If someone wishes to continue posting on the forums, they must abide by the rules. You are not permitted to promote your own website and brand of products if they compete with items that Pelican sells. If you wish to have them included in the Pelican Parts catalog, then we have established channels to promote this, and we will be able to arrange and setup a wholesale agreement. These rules are followed by other vendors (Elephant Racing, Seine Systems, JM Products, Steve Wong, etc) who benefit from the large exposure given to their products on this forum.

Ben did indeed send me an email last week while I was away (I'm still trudging through the email backlog). However, he mistakenly proceeded to market his products without hearing back from myself or a member of my staff. I have since placed Ben in contact with one of my catalog content managers, and they will be coordinating the inclusion of Ben's products in the catalog. It was a simple mistake, and steps are being taken to correct it and work within the proper channels.

I am 100% supportive of upgrade and aftermarket products that benefit us all. Heck, we sell just about anything anyone has ever made for these cars. There's really nothing that I won't put in our catalog (well, actually, there was one product that I refused to sell - it was pretty bad). However, you need to work through the proper channels once you get past the "prototype stage."

There are a few exceptions to this rule, and 100% of those people (that I am aware of) have been given permission by me to sell on the forum. One example is John Colasante with his RSR Porsche stickers, which we cannot sell because of trademark restrictions. John specifically asked me about this prior to placing his postings in the classifieds sections.

Ben and Eugene are in contact right now, and Ben's account will be reinstated shortly.

I trust that this helps to explain the situation.

Okay, then there were two products. The other was a music CD of songs about Porsches. It just didn't seem like something that... Well, you can imagine what trouble you can get into with a Casio...

Just for the record, it wasn't the 911 Ultimate Driving Music CD. That was a playlist with mock up discography that was never produced or pomoted for sale. Randywebb correctly pointed out the copyright issues involved.
