Brake Problem?

I have a 1984 Targa that's puzzling me. Being a real novice at this repair and maintenance stuff, I'm hoping some of you seasoned veterans can help me out.
As I drive the car it seems I always have this sense of resistance. While waiting at a light on a slight downhill incline, I even lifted my foot off the brake with the clutch depressed and the car didn't roll forward. I'll typically drive the car to work. It will feel OK as I drive to work in the morning and significantly worse in the evening at 5 when I go home. (Warmer air temp?)
As I travel home, (about a 12 mile drive) it seems that the resistance worsens particularly on the right front. As I got out of the car the other day noticed a smell from the right front area.
I've replaced front calipers thinking they were sticking but that hasn't solved it. They needed replacing anyway so I don't feel too bad about that, but the problem persists. I've looked at various threads related to wheel bearings and the symptoms don't seem to match. I notice some vibration but not consistently.
Any ideas?
