Early Flag Mirror Motor Replacement Pics
There are several threads that explain the process, but I didn't find step by step photos. Very simple to do. Tools needed were a wide putty knife with a rag wraped around. a flat screwdriver and a nutdriver (I used 5/16). This was done on a 79.
Use the wrapped putty knife to pry mirror off backing plate. Heating grid is on back of glass so watch where you pry. There are 3 posts on the back of the mirror that friction fit into grommets on the backing plate. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Disconnect the 2 wires to the heat grid. Note orientation. ![]() ![]() There are 3 screws holding the motor assembly to the mirror housing. Take these out next. ![]() continued- |

![]() ![]() This is the electical connector. Use a wide flat screwdriver to separate the connector. ![]() ![]() ![]() Reinstall the new motor assembly in the reverse order. |
