"Lost" 3rd and 4th gears ('86 930)

Hi, wondering if anyone can help? While driving over the weekend I "lost" (the ability to shift into) 3rd and 4th gears. It feels as though the linkage is loose or disconnected, as when I try to select 3rd, it slots 1st and similarly 4th is slotting 2nd...

Is the problem in the shift assembly (gear stick), or is it where the shaft meets the gear-box selector under the rear seats???

I'm hoping this is a quick, easy and cheap repair/fix i.e. tighten up a bolt... Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a loose or broken shift fork. (?)

Maybe John Walker will chime in Monday. PDT

Thanks Island. The shift fork is located under the rear seats isn't it?? It is what connects the shaft to the gear box and has a pin going through it...

Fork be in the da trans...the shift linkage may have slipped. That's in the tunnel under the carpet behind the front seats.....
