Electric seat wiring

Hi
My Electric seats are all unpluged underneath.
Pls can someone advise which wires go to the motors and where abouts are the connnections on the motors?
I have 2 switches on the seats which control up and down motion only for the back and front of the seats.

I have worked out that each switch has a brown wire and a red wire which are - and +.

I need to understand what where the other 4 striped wires go, I assume these are the motor wires. (2 on each motor?)

Thanks
Amo

Yes, 2 wires per motor. When you remove the seat screws and tip back the seat you will see the prongs on the motors to where each pair of wires connect. Then plug in the the main big square power plug and test the switch operation to be sure you don't have the wires on backwards. (i.e., push switch up and seat should go up.) It'll be pretty obvious once the seat is tipped back.

p.s.
Welcome to the board. New car? Pics?

Oh, one more thing. You might wonder why they were ever disconnected in the first place. Could be that a switch is faulty (only goes down for example) and the previous owner flipped the wires, set the seat height and then unplugged the wires so no one would accidentally re-adjust into the wrong position again.

There are at least 6 allen screw/bolts inside the rails. You might have to adjust the seat forward and back to access them. Remove the screws (holding the nut thing under the rail so it doesn't fall into the rail, and don't strip the screw heads...softish metal) , slide out the nut things, and the seat will tip back. I've done this a bunch of times so feel free to ask more Qs. An easy job.

Oh, I added a note on my previous post about faulty switches that you might want to check out.

Well the power connector is all rusty so I cleaned that, and I noticed that the switch buttons are both broken, so they were not making contact with the switches!
Once I have the wires sorted, I will test them with a screw driver.
I doubt both switches could be faulty?
Will try soon.
Thanks

Hi,
Are the wires for each motor polarised?, or can I connect either?.
The connectors seem the same.
Cheers

Yes, typical DC electrical stuff. If you connect them and push the switch up, and if the seat goes down, then just flip them around.

As you might have guessed, don't bolt the seat back down until you have it all woking correctly.
