I didn't think I could ever get sick of dremmeling, but I'm cutting off my cat and muffler.. Man-o-man, will I ever get this thing off..
3 hours of fiberglass cutting wheels, and I've gotten the heat shield off and 4 headless bolts.. A few more to go tomorrow.

My close friends and my wife think I'm dremmel crazy.

I think you need a cutting wheel, save the dremmel for smaller tasks

I did the samething with my Dremel. After that used Stainless steel bolts
and nuts.
Now I can switch the Cat with the Premuffler in about 1 hour.

Good luck, don't give up, The Dremmel will do it. (It is not easy though)

A 3" air cut off tool, only way to fly. 10 seconds a bolt! And the light show is pretty cool.

Harborfreight is unreal for bargins. I feel your pain Eskimo. I was in the garage tonight cutting the three frozen bolts off the cross over pipe. I got two off before the dremel blade broke. I found cutting with the dremel and finishing with a hack saw worked best. The all I had to do was drill out the last 16 of an inch. Took about ten minutes for each bolt but my exhaust system is off the car and on the floor which makes it very easy. The cat BP bolts were replaced years ago when the cat got taken off. I'm going to replace them again but with a stainless bolt as above and maybe a different metal for the nut.

Those big saw are nice, but I really like the ... (dare I say) "daintiness" of that little tool. With those 1.5 inch fiberglass blades you can get to some pretty tight places.

I was told to stop making so much damn noise in the garage, so now I've been relegated to the basement, for internet, trance music, booze and cigarettes.. (and she EXPECTS me to actually finish this car)
That targa should be on the road by 2007 if I keep this up.

Feel your pain. I dremmeled off all the same bolts when I replaced my exhaust.

I used a dremmel also. But I used a bit that looks kinda like a drill bit but is used for cutting metal. Worked real good. On the cat I just cut off each side of the nuts and then chiseled them off. I have a grinder too but it didn't fit in there so good and the sparks were a bit much.

You can get a pack of cut-off wheels and a mandrel for your dremel that work great on smaller stuff. When I fought my siezed cat bolts a die-grinder and cutting disc worked wonders (and fast!).

Try the Sears "Bolt Out" sockets, as seen on TV with Bob Vila, they're sockets with internal biting teeth, and they work well.
