Fuel line--where does it go?

The high pressure line coming off the fuel pump on the 911 has a pinhole leak in the rubber an inch or so past the banjo connection. Where does the hard line connect? It enters into the body of the car just past the steering rack, and I assume it goes to the fuel filter--but where is it inside the car?

Another question: is it safe/possible to simply cut out the bad portion of the hose and splice in new fuel line? The bad place is just past the crimped on fitting to the fuel pump.

Thanks for any info--

The fuel line runs from the pump to just behind the rear bulk head where it connects to another line that goes up to the engine. It's rubber near the pump and hard plastic through the car. I would not try to replace just the end since the rubber is probably too hard and brittle to seal well over a hose barb. The fuel line can be replaced, it's a bit of a bear but I've done it a couple times. The main problems are getting it through the tunnel, but it's possible with a friend's help, and getting the banjo fitting through the metal loop above the steering rack. You will also need to replace the rubber grommets at the front and rear bulk heads. I'd replace both pressure and return lines while you're there.

Many thanks.

Where does the hard line in the tunnel connect to the line to the engine? Is it inside the tunnel where the shifter coupler is or underneath at the rear bulkhead in front of the transmission?

The hard line (actually it's flexible plastic) runs all the way through the body tunnel and connects with the next rubber line behind the rear bulk head infront of the transmission cross brace.

So, is it possible to disconnect the factory connections aft of the rear bulkhead? I assumed that since mine would not budge, and Pelican only sells the complete line from the banjo connection to the front pump that the 11mm and 17mm junction did not separate. (my leak is at the factory crump on the rubber hose) Is it possible to buy the short piece with the banjo and 17mm connection to the rear bulkhead? dealership?

The fuel line is one piece from the fuel pump to the fitting outside the rear bulk head. You have to replace the whole line.

sorry, that's what I'm talking about. Can I disconnect the 11/17mm connections outside the rear bulkhead, and, if so, is there a source for the short line from the rear (banjo) fuel pump to the rear (17mm crimp) bulkhead? thanks for your patience David, I'm only just getting to know this 930 that I bought in April. Prior 29 years have been on/under my '73

Here's the pic from the parts catalog.

I tried getting new fuel lines from Pelican and they said they can't get them.

So I got them from a competitor.

I changed them on an SC with the steering rack in place. On my 930 I had to remove the steering rack (bump steer) spacers to change them.

I thought about aeroqip but the stock lines are good when new so I'm using new stock lines to the engine compartment then I'm tying in to aeroqip for the EFI.

thx Dave

I believe I have a return line restriction somewhere. [I did tie into both lines where it exits the tunnel in the rear.] I figure now wtf and do the full monty as long as I'll be in that direction.. I wrote ss for simplicity but would probably go with one of the other Aeroquip hd industrial lines.
