how do you store a fuel pump?

Im pulling a car apart and I know the project will take a long time.
Since fuel lubricates the pump and maybe prevents corrosion...

Do I leave fuel in the fuel pump, or drain it?

If I leave fuel in maybe a short hose on either end with some clamps?

If I drain it, anything to spray\run through the inside to protect it prior to setting it aside?

Anything special I should be doing with fuel lines while Im at it?

Does someone know about any good threads \ reading material on how to store a vehicle?

Thanks

If you're removing the pump from the vehicle, drain it well, attach short
hose to suction side & run a small amount of diesel fuel thru pump with battery power. 5 seconds will do it & keep it lubed.

I pulled the fuel pump out of my 74 Targa after it set up with gas in it for 20 years. I was told to soak it in carb cleaner and then try it out. After all that time in that poor storage environment, it still works like a champ.
