911 headers

I have a 1978 911 targa sc and i was wondering if headers from a 1975 911 will fit. I was also wondering if anyone has any suggestions on Trany options

Your first post! Welcome! :)

'75 headers were made for the 2.7 liter engine. You have a 3.0, so the '75 will be a bit small. Check out the Pelican Parts section for middle year Porsches and do a search on headers. Options will come up for you. You'll also need a dual-in-dual-out muffler. Pelican sells those as well. Remember, your car will not be smog legal after this modification, so keep all the old parts off your car for when you have to a smog check.

As for tranny options, your best bet is to put a 7.31 ring and pinion from an early 915 gearbox into your gearbox.

With the correct size headers, exhaust and that ring and pinion, your car will truly scoot - and the best part: without internal engine mods.

Good luck!
