Where does your clutch engage?

Adjusted my clutch cable tonight. What a difference! Smoother than before and no grinding at all. I really didn't have a problem but just thought it was time to adjust.
It now engages closer to the top of the pedal travel. I would guess about 3/4 of the way. I don't want to fine tune it forever.

Does it matter much where the pedal engages as long as it's fully in/out? Silky smooth shifts now. Even tried a quick 1-2 and it barked the tires quite nicely with no grindage!!
Thanks for the opinions, fellas.SmileWavy

I always like it just where you have it. Just a little bit of freeplay to make sure it's fully engaged and not slipping. It it engages sooner, you run the risk of it dragging when stopped or when shifting....
