Tube bending?
I hope someone has done some of this? I am going to try and bend up some 1 1/2 .035 wall stainless steel 304 tubing, nothing over a 45, I was looking at those cheap import tube/pipe benders with the jack and dies, do these work on thin tubing or am I going to kink it? Someone out there must have done up their own roll cages? what works best?
Thanks Craig |

We used to fill the tubes with loose sand and pack it in as tight as possible.
Then use a bender that supports the sides of the tube as you bend (the dies look like a tube cut in half). With a little care...you can bend 90 deg or more with out too much crush. Bob

Check out VanSant enterprises I have their model 3 bender and it works very well. Each die has specs for the recommended wall thickness of the tube.
