Smog pump revisted

Ok I have read almost all 51 threads with smog pump in the Heading. I think I have answered my own question. The exhaust tube leading from the exhaust to where the smog pump use to be is splitting apart, on my 76 911s. Instead of replacing the tube, which I am having a hard time finding 2 1/2 inch, can I cap it off where the arrow is in the pic? Should I replace the hose? I am thinking I can, but just wanted to check. These cars don't always follow normal logic. """My smog setup has been removed by previous owner"""

My smog pump has hard tubing from air check valve to air injection fittings. If it was only used for smog pump, you could cap it of with a freeze plug.

gliderdude, are you sure you are talking smog pump and not heater blower? that big hose, is the hose that connects, the heat exchanger to the blower motor, to enhance the wonderful heating experience of our 911's. that hose is cheap. take a picture of the motor, you dont have any loose big hoses laying around uncapped do you? that would make your car run on the hot side, i think. everything needs to be connected or capped and blocked off.

Again, I agree with Vash. Doesn't look like a smog pump hose to me.

Strike one for the newbie. After further examination, Vash is correct, that is heater exchange.
