There are only two models missing now from Porsche's "Wienie King" line up of cars...

and, let me tell you, a station wagon is the _least_ bad one

87coupe 07-28-2005 10:02 PM

That thing is cool, looks like a precursor to the BMW Z3 Coupe.

Different strokes for different folks. I think it's hella sweet! Better than that VW...ahem...Cayenne I mean...

cool 924 carrera gt shooting brake!

Flyer88 07-29-2005 03:03 AM

Vega?

deathpunk dan 07-29-2005 04:43 AM

the 924 Turbo Shooting Brake was based on the 924 Carrera GT.

neat concept. I saw one at a PCA show about 4 years ago in Newport RI. There's only about 25 of them in the world.

Looks like the unlikely cross-bred child of one of these:

VW Fox

It looks like someone welded the front half of a 944 to the back half of a Pinto.

If bell bottom pants are back in style, anything can happen!

atlporsche 07-29-2005 05:30 AM

no way...that thing is sweeeet.

Glad BMW finally brought a 3-series wagon to the states with the E46...we missed out on the E30 and E36 models...

Dream car is a chevelle wagon with a 396.

It is more like a Volvo P1800es. That was a cool car. I almost bought one of those but never found one that was the right car.

I'd love a 924 turbo shooting brake. Actually, a 968 shooting brake would be the SHIZ-nit.

Doug751 07-29-2005 10:23 AM

These were made to avoid road tax! (no joke)

I have a German friend that helped make those conversions. There were a few shops doing that in Germany, Denmark and Holland. The reason was that some European countries, like Holland and Denmark charge huge taxes for cars. If you drove a "commercial vehicle", then you were expempt. The interior volume was critical because it had to be a certain size to qualify for the break.

So, these are ugly, and you see how silly soome tax laws can be and how depserate people are to afford to drive a Porsche.

I can get more detailed information if anybody would like it next time I talk with Frank.
