How to install under dash A/C Vents?

I just purchased a used A/C Vent Assembly that bolts directly under the knee pads.

It looks like I definitely am going to have to drill holes into the knee pads to attach the A/C vent assembly.

My question is then what?

I talked to my Mechanic this morning he said to just use my existing control knobs. Which is good because then I wont have to deal with the wiring.

My car is an 82 SC.

The part that looks hard is how do I by-pass the A/C duct work so that all of the Air will just come out through the new assembly and no more air will come out of the two center dash vents?

It looks like I will have to drill a bigger hole to match the assembly intake tube up with the foot well adjustable vent right behind the center console.

Any help and pics would be great!

I would take pictures of what I got but my girlfriend left me and she took the digital camera with her :(

I have no idea what your's looks like, but my vents (aftermarket AC) are mounted (I think) in place of the original knee pad.

Mine's a 78 and like jmohn was after market, they were in pretty sad shape so I repleaced them with std knee pads some time back since the A/C didn't work very well. Knee pad are held on with 2 nuts one kind of in the center of the knee pad and the other by the corner.

Thanks a lot for you help guys.

What about the air outlet/intake for the new unit. Does anyone have any advice on that?

Thanks,
