Data on how many '73S Targas came with Sporto

I just bought a '73S Targa with a 4 speed Sportomatic tranny and the red book tells me there were 925 S Targas produced that year.

Can anyone tell me how many of the 925 S Targas came with a Sportomatic tranny, that's the 925/01 tranny (4 speed)? The motor is a 911/63 for use with the Sporto.

Can anyone tell me where to look for this kind of obscure data?

Thanks for the help.

I was looking to buy a Sporto a while back and have some research.

First link incorrect. Try this one: http://www.sportomatic.org/production.htm. Enjoy your sporto.

Thanks for the link. I'll give it a try.

Herman

The S is cherry, only 2 owners, all records, CA car, no rust or damage ever, Sepia Brown, garaged time capsul.

The Red Book says 1430 Coupes & 925 Targa for the S, it doesn't indicate how many came to the US in '73. It does for other years and the T but not for the E & S.

Eric

It's the car that was on Craig's, absolutely beautiful, second owner, service records, documented engine rebuild, Sepia Brown respray, garaged, 4 speed Sportomatic, numbers matching, no hits, no damage, no repairs, straight, no rust, CA blue plate, never restored and doesn't need it. Really nice couple bought it in '79, they're retired now & didn't drive it very often, they have 3 other cars. It's like looking at a 911 from a time capsule.

That didn't take long. I guess we'll see how strong the early 911 market really is. A sepia brown sportomatic targa. Nothing wrong with the specs but certainly toward the bottom of early S desirability. This should be interesting to watch.

Yes, we'll see, but having ridden in an S sporto, I know they are extremely quick off the line. I saw Jeff Smith drag Earl Green in his, and they were dead even off the line for an 1/8th mile, both were 73S's, one 5 spd, one Sporto.

Car looks really nice, and not "screwed around" with. A pair of tan Sport seats in that car would be a nice addition!

Good luck!!
