Driverside Power Window - no joy
 

My driver side power window is no longer working. Seemed to stop after a wash. However, the switch on the driverside to operate passenger power window does work. Switch on passenger side operates the passenger window. Replaced driverside with new switch carefully moving individual wires to new switch one at a time. Still no joy. Searched forum. Lots of threads on this subject.

So that eliminates solenoid and fuse correct? Has to be the ground or motor right? How can I test to see if the motor is still ok without pulling the door apart?

You really can't since you don't really have access to the contacts in order to bench test the motor. It's really not too difficult to get the motor out. I have a 89 cab and am not that mechanically inclined, but I just took the motor out last week and got it back together right after. (Wayne's book was a great help.) Just make sure that the window is supported really good in about the halfway up position. Since we don't have the top of the door to tape it to, it takes a little creativity. Good luck

And the motors are cheap - relatively speaking. I think they are only like $150 USD as opposed to a new Toyota window motor which can be double that cost :(

bummer....motor is good after I tested it....so it could be the relay behind oil gauage or its a wire issue....was not much fun taking apart the door to find the motor was still good :(.

Help.....pulled window motor...it's good. So I replaced the relay behind Oil guage. However, I can't get the regulator wheels back into the tracks at the bottom of the window. How do you do this?

Ok...finally figured out how to get the regulator wheels back in...with regulator not attached, slip wheels in from the far side of the door with window halfway down. After replacing the relay behind the oil temperture guage, the window resumed working. Greasing the regulator components with litheum grease made the window operate a lot smoother.

Moral to this story, if window stops operating, check fuse, then switch, and then relay before tearing door apart to check motor.
