what size fuchs on 72T
 

How do I find out what size wheels I have? I know that they are original and they have 205/60/15 tires on them. Any thoughts?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1122781170.jpg

Fuchs for 72's are 6 x 15, with a flat face where the windmill blades attach to the rim. Your look to be the correct wheels

Thanks!! Any idea how wide of a tire will fit on there without having to roll the fenders? Car currently measures about 24.75 in at wheelwells.

those 'flat 6' (15x6) fuchs. all of these cars are a little different, but you may be able to fit a standard 15x7 (23mm offset) on a 205 tire. Click the link to the Sepia car in my sig for an example. Mine fit fine with no rolling, but you never know.

If you keep the 6x15s, I wouldn't suggest going much bigger than the 205/60-15. Any wider and the tire bulges too much, IMHO.

Like Sherman mentions, 7x15s with 205s all around is great. The 205s work much better on the 7s. If you can do some fender rolling 225/50s are nice. Looks and works great on the earlier cars, but some fender rolling might be required.

Thanks for the input! I really don't want to tamper with the fenders so I'll probably just stay with the 205/60s. Local tire guy suggested possibly 225/55 - would that just look like big balloons on my 6s??

On my car ('73 911), 225's would rub on the inner fenders if not the outer fenders too, even if you roll the fender lips. Maybe even hit the rear suspension bolts too. 205/60/15's are the largest I've seen anyone advise using on an '69 - 73 911.

I put 205/55/16's on my '73 911T after upping the Fuchs to 6x16's and the tires will hit the inner fender at full lock on either side.

But I went with the widest measured tread width I could get - there is a lot of variation in both the maximum width of the tire (think of it as the sidewall bulge) and the tread width depending on tire manufacturerr, tire model, etc.

The Tire Rack (www.tirerack.com) is the only place I found that had a substantial amount of information on different tires so that a comparison of the measurements could be made. When I looked into putting 205/60/15's on my old rims, a lot of the 205 width tires were the same tread width as the 195/65/15's I was running! It pays to do your homework.
