new battery and bracket ideas?

Hi gents, I have a huge battery in the stock 84 Carrera location. I would like to keep it forward as opposed to moving aft in the smugglers box. My question is "what is the best small battery and what are the different ways to secure it, as it won't fit the original foot print now" Anyone with pics?

Odyssey PC680...They are about $75 on ebay. Some lightweight aluminum from HD or Lowes's bent to fit and then bolted in should work fine. I've got one that I mounted in the smuggler's box mounted this way.

Okay, sounds easy enough.

I'm looking at doing the same thing.

Is it better to go with a PC680 or a WestCo 12V31M as suggested by Wevo for a street application.

I have a medium sized stereo installation, just a pair of components and a 60x2 amp.

I just don't want to have headlight dimming issues and such when listening to the radio, and the PC680 looks awfully small.

The I think you are better off with an optima for a daily driven car with a stereo. Someone sells an adapter plate for 30 bucks (can someone post a link?). It's a good amount of money for some bent aluminum, but it works well, looks great and comes with everything you need.

I'm interested in the adapter plate if anyone knows where to get it? After some more research the Optima sounds like a better battery for every day use.

Optima red top in an 87 Carrera. My only complaint is that it leaked recently out the weep/vent on top and ran into the battery box area. Not much ... but enough that I had to pull the battery and clean things up. I was surprised that a gel battery would do that.

Because of the leak in the Optima I decided to try a Oddessy PC625 dry cell battery in the 72T. It's very compact and light. Easy to fit in the battery boxes of a long hood. I've only had it a couple of months so I can't vouch for it yet.
