930 owner's.......HELP!!!
Hey guys,
I have a problem here and I need to solve it before a Porsche club tour this saturday. I have a silicone boost hose that connects my IC to my throttle body. My car is a 77 so it used to have the O ring on the throttle body to fit the intake and shuttle valve assembly over it and bolted onto the intake manifold so it was impossible to move or worse yet BLOW OFF under boost. The big problem is this. I have a custom fab IC now and I am using this silicone connector that continually blows off of the t body under boost. It does however stay nicely put on the IC side. Is there a better clamp I can use for the t body side? Do any of you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance for any advice here! .................................................. .C ![]()

Chris, any chance of getting the silicone hose on the TB with an O-ring in the groove, just to get a bit more grip? The real solution would be to pull the tb and have someone tig a bead around it.

That is a good idea but the time crunch is tough. Hmm I do have a buddy that tig welds......
Any more thoughts if that doesnt work out. Maybe a temporary solution? ......................................C

what about some safety wire? i
use this trick where clamps won't work on my turbo dodge running 24lbs boost.

I just went out to the garage with a few ideas swimming around my head but the problem is that there just isn't any room to do much once the intercooler is in place. I'm sure you have even less space with your full bay than I do with my kokeln. I would just bite the bullet and pull the tb and have someone run a bead on it.

how about ditching the soft silicone hose and get a stiff one? then use the clamps with the blue band.

I converted all my clamps on my 930 to T-Bolt Clamps...they are the very best for clamping force (somewhere in the region of 350psi)
They look like this: ![]() Furthermore, I was able to slip on a silicone connector from the IC to the TB, it was hell but worked and then I used the T-Bolt clamps. The T-Bolts clamps are available for cheap at any good Hydraulic shop. I am having a custom IC made for me and will be using the same silicone hose \ T-Bolt clamp set-up. Any pics that you can share of your IC set-up? Yasin

Good ideas guys, I think I'll do the better clamps since I have a couple of them here and I'll go ahead and pull it apart and have the bead welded. Thanks for the help! I'll post pics of this little project on sunday. I told some guys I'd show them the juicy details of my intake system anyway.
Thanks again................................C ![]()

I used a T-Bolt clamp on my intercooler hose - and it really holds tight. It used to work itself free. Not anymore!

I forgot to mention as well that the T-Bolt clamps comes with a Nylok nut, so they stay locked - no backing out!
They run about $3 a piece Yasin
