Porsche Crest PolyBronze Suspension Bearings - A Great Upgrade

Many post before on Elephant Racing PolyBronze suspension bearings, but these bearings are fantastic. Installed the front ones this weekend, NO SQUEAKS and the suspension moves freely. Installing the rears next weekend. One of the best upgrades I've done.

I have the full setup and am very pleased. Makes my 23/30 torsions a lot more supple ride quality than their dimensions would indicate.

Wheither you need the friction mounts depends on the condition of your a arms. You can always try them without and add them later if you don't mind double handling.

You can install them without. The low friction mounts are only necessary to allow for chassis a-arm mounts which are not co-linear. My car needed them badly on one side, but not the other. The misalignment can be to tweaks to the chassis (potholes, etc), an accident, a drunken factory worker from 19XX.

You could just get lucky. Worst case, you could always install them later. You will know if you suspension (a-arms) bind when you are installing them.

Ben, I'm glad the product is working well for you.

Elombard,

Yes, Polybronze can be installed on any car with or without the Low-Fiction mounts.

The Low-Friction mounts benefit cars that have poor alignment between front and rear mounts of the "A" arms, the benefit is easier movement of the arms. Some cars have good alignment, others not so good.

I recommend the mounts for any car that has had frontal impact damage or a pan replacement. For other cars, it's hit-or-miss based on the the ravages of 16-40 years of pot holes, curbs and hard driving.

On my '73 I needed the low friction mounts to get complete free movement of the control arm with zero binding. Even with the mounts I had to fiddle quite a bit to get no binding, but the result was worth the trouble.

If you are going to get the car aligned and corner balanced it pays to do everything up front because any subsequent changes will require doing the align/CB over, at considerable expense. Better to endure a few additional weeks of clunking/squeaking while you save up to do it right the first time.

Which grease do you guys use with the polybronze bushings? I just got mine front and rears a week ago and will have them installed during my next oil change.

The PO put plastic bushings in car, harsh ride and squeaky as #$@#

I used Mobil grease, they will be very easy to grease in the future.
