Another "oil leak" thread - pics

Ok, after replacing the oil breather gasket, the oil thermostat ring, and the oil idiot light sensor, I have an all new leak after only a week of having all this back together.

Or it could be something that I did not seal up correctly the first time around. Also could be a bad breather vent hose as well I suppose. What do you guys thik this is? If it's on top of the motor again I'm just going to drop it this weekend and be done with it.

*It runs out of the hole and drips off the bolt in the pic.

No one? I guess I'll just drop the engine this weekend. Oh well I needed to install my new tensioners, and adjust my valves anyway.

Anyone have a source for a new breather hose? Local auto parts store does not have anything that biog.

I am having the same issues now, belive it is either or all...crankcase beather gasket, crankcase breather hose, thermostat o ring, aux fan switch, or the oil pressure switch.

Did you replace all of these including the breather hose? I understand the hose can sometimes come loose so you might want to check this again.

I assume you had to pull the engine to get to this area or were you able to do this by a partical drop?

I did not replace the hose, and it's my primary suspect now. I removed the CIS system to replace the parts in question, which took me close to five hours out, and another four hours in. Along with a trip to my wrench to have the system set up again.

Just bad newbie luck I suppose, I figured the 911 was going to be about the same as working on my 951, that was a mistake.

This time I am going to drop the engine, replace the clutch, flywheel seal, upgrade to Carerra tensioners, replace all of the top gaskets again, and adjust the valves. It's going to be a fun weekend!

Good luck, keep us posted with some pics of the drip and the leaking areas,

Bob

Recheck that all the parts you replaced are still screwed in. I replaced the same parts as you and still had the leak. I reached my hand around back and realized to my embarrassment I had forgotten to screw the oil light sensor all the way in.

Porsche Crest

That pic is the area directly below the engine oil cooler, right?

Seems to be leaking from an oil cooler seal to me ...

Yes, right by the oil cooler, but I still have *new* fresh oil around on the red engine shroud as well.
