3.0 Euro spec
Recently aquired a '78 SC w/ a motor rebuilt to 3.0 euro spec. How much difference compared to the stock 180 hp?
Are there any tell-tell signs that's it's a 3.0 euro spec rebuild. I have no documentation. I've owned several 911SC's over the years and recently got this one. I can't really tell by butt-dyno if there is any difference from the stock US spec SC's. Car pulls really well and smooth. |

If it is the 204bhp engine it should have metal fuel pipes at the bottom to the right of the fan. The earlier less powerful engines had plastic ones.

The 78 Euro spec engine is basically identical to the US version. They use the same pistons and cams and both have an airpump for air injection into the exhaust. The only real difference is that the US model used a more aggressive indexing of the cams to off set the power loss caused by the catalyst.
The later 204 HP used 9.8:1 pistons with the same cam indexing as the earlier Carrera 3.0 and the 78-79 US spec SC's. Regards, Jerry Kroeger
