Do you carefully expand each single ring and move it over the piston into the groove? Is there some trick to it?
Do you prefer to mount the pistons first onto the rods and then install rings? I think that I like to install pistons and then slide the cylinders over the pistons. Yes? What is the preferred ring compressor for 98mm P/C's?

Lisle, Craftsman, and other brand piston ring expander tools make the job lots easier and less damage to the fingertips ...

I still prefer to install them with my fingers. (better feel)
As far as a ring compressor goes? I use one that is multi-adjustable. I can't remember if I bought it from Porsche or from Wurth. Its the best! If I remember tomorrow, I'll take a pic of it and post it.

Update on the ring compressor. The one I use is a Hazet and the part # is 794U-3. They are about $155 bucks and worth every penny. One thing they do not work on that I have encountered. 356 and 912 engines with the oil ring placed low on the piston. Other then that....two thumbs up!
