I bought a 79 911SC targa a year ago. Been running great. But, always wondered about an empty bracket and a few hoses that are cut off and sealed. Did some research and found out that's where the air pump should be. Is this a problem? what's the deal without an air pump? Do I need an air pump? If you know anything please help me understand this!!
Thanks, ademmon P.S. By the way I am looking for these two fuel lines if anyone can help: 1. The (should be metal) fuel line that connects the accumulator to the fuel filter. 2. The (should be metal) fuel line that connects the fuel filter to the back of the distributor. This line runs across the top back of the engine and turns from metal to a hard black hose.

That's what left of your EGR system. As far as I know, if it's plugged-up properly, it should be no problem at all. It's less drag on the motor in fact.
My motor is currently in the same state and has been for a while. I'm actually going backwards and hooking mine up again (thanks to CA smog laws). Scott
