alignment shop in CA (Inland Empire)

Hi!

Well, after lowering the front of my car, I decided to take it to the local tire place (BigO) to get realigned.

Well, after a couple of hours, they called and said that the eccentric bolts wouldn't work! They also said that they really don't "do" Porsches, so my question is...

Can someone please recommend a shop that I can take the 911 to get realigned? I live in Redlands CA (92373), so I'd like to minimize the distance I need to travel.

Thanks!

Brad

I think Walters Porsche (Walthers?) is in Riverside. Never used them, but it's a dealer FWIW. How far are you from Irvine/Lake Forset? Hergesheimer's Motorsports is superb. Give Mark or Laura a call and they'll treat you right!

Brad,

I second the West End Alignment recommendation. Darin is worth the drive. I sat in my car the whole time but it was worth it. I didn't realize what a job he had done until I started pushing the canyons.

Call Don @ PrecisionMotion in Riverside, he's right off the 215 near the 91. He sent me to Reliable tire in Riverside a few years ago.
They did a good job, not to pricey.

One more option is Manny Bautista at Bud's Tire and Wheel 951-351-1319, at 8651 Indiana Ave. in Riverside. They advertise themselves as Porsche specialists.

hi!

Thanks for all the recommendations. It turns out there is a local place called "Pruett's" that can do Porsche work. Only about 2 miles away. I'm going to try them out, since they are so close. I'll let you know how it goes!

I'll keep these as backups!

Thanks again!

hi!

Not good. It turns out my tub (Unibody) is bent, twisted, etc... Now I'm looking at a $3-5K job!

my bent "frame"...

This was a ball park from Kevin. I need to take it in for an inspection and perhaps a 2nd opinion, not that I don't believe it, but I've been burned once, so why take chance?!

I still can't figure it out, so I'm going to take a look at the dimensions today. The damage is behind the torsion bar tube, and there doesn't seem to be any damage to the tube itself, so I'm a little confused. Are the banana arms different length for different years? I think the arm on the drivers side has been replaced, since you can see tire rubs on the inner fender well and one heater manifold thing has dents from the CV joint hitting it.

Anyway, I need to do some homework before I jump into this one.

Any tricks, advice would be useful.

Brad

hi!

What are DE's?

About how much did they charge you? Pruett's is $85 for two wheels and also their hourly rate.

I took some measurements this week-end and it turns out that my tub is off about 2 cm from drivers to pass. I measured from the large 17mm front torsion bar bolt (next to the adjustment bolt) to the middle of the rear torsion tube. 176.7 (drivers) to 174.7. I don't know how accurate this is, but I was consistant on both sides.

I found that an old sparkplug and some dental floss is a great plumb!
