Best tranny for 2.5/2.6 shorty?
Hi guys
Which type of mag tranny is the best for a 2.5/2.6 short stroke engine? TIA |

The 901 could work fine when treated right, although the 915, although delicate by today's standards, is more robust than the 901. Both have numerous upgrades that could be done, such as billet intermediate plates, side plates, gate shift etc

Im going to use a '71 type 911 box. Ive got two of them right now that I plan to disassemble, inspect, and then use to rebuild a single solid box. I dont know the gear sets yet, but Im going to go with the billet intermediate plate.
The '70-'71 mag boxes will allow you to use regular CVs, the billet intermediate plate, and the more desirable clutch setup. Search some of my recent threads for '901' and '915' and read some of the details that people have posted on the various gearboxes. hope that helps |
