CIS Owners Advice Please
Im going to look at a 79 sc engine tmrw for my upgrade, the engine im going to look at is in a salvage yard and is not in the car the guy at the salvo yard says the engine was run 6 weeks ago when they first aquired the car but since then the shell was sold. He told me that after changing the fuel pump that was ceased the engine fired straight up and ran good and revved good however it did miss/backfire at idle.
Has anyone here experinced this problem could this be just as simple as a vacume leak in the CIS system or could it be something more sinister? Thanks Steve |

*Sigh*
1) Do not put a CIS 3.0 into a beautiful 1972 911 2) If you must - at least switch to webers or and MFI would be absolutely gorgeous 3) Do not beleive a word the salvage yard tells you 4) Assume the motor is SHOT and you will be doing a COMPLETE rebuid 5) Ignore #4 and have a work up done on the engine - compression test, leak down etc etc etc..... 6) If this engine has been rained on- well see #4 7) If you must go to CIS you will need more stuff from that roller, fuel lines, fuel accumulator, fuel filter etc etc etc.... 8) What is wrong with your current motor? Please post pics of your car and reasons why you would even consider taking it away from original. Also what is he selling the 3.0CIS for? |

Current motor is now sold! im not planning on keeping the CIS I hate the system, im thinking of using a 3.2 intake and a megasquirt ECU. Or possibly just going straight for the 3.2 motor!
Just want a solid block and work up from there its finding one thats the hard part! Steve |
