bearings fixed. gear noise...

Hi,

today I had my rear wheel bearings fixed. The car was making a constant drone noise and an occasional wailing sounds during coasting say in 3rd or 4th.

Car is 85 911,

Well after the bearing replacement, the drone is gone.

I also had the gearbox oil replaced today, but the wailing sound is still there a bit, albeit less. It doesnt happen during accel, more when backing off on the throttle and coasting in gear.

The workshop didnt say much about it (if something was looking ominous they would usually say).

Just wondered if this noise is something I should be concerned about, or just put it down to being a 915 transmission.

Also I note sometimes during coasting, when I resume power sometimes it feels like there is a little "surge" coming from the transmission.

Any comments appreciated.
