My "new" '86 Coupe pics
Well. I've been posting here for a couple of months now but haven't posted pics of my "new" Porsche. I've wanted one of these cars since I was old enough to drive, but never thought I'd actually own one. Now that I've been driving it for a few weeks, I don't think I could ever be without a 911 again.
It's just a garden variety '86, but as someone here said, "Every car is special when it's yours." I bought this car from California, probably paid a bit too much, and had a ppi done in La Jolla. Also had an inspection done when I got it here to Tampa (enclosed trailer) and nothing significant was found. It will need new brakes and shocks in a few thousand miles. I recently installed cat bypass and dynomax muffler (thanks Jack et al.) and now about to change the steering wheel out for a 930 type. Have thought about lowering it, but it barely makes it into my driveway now. Also thinking of upgrading the ac, although it works pretty well up to about 85 degrees ambient. Other than that, it's great the way it is, I think. Thanks to you all for all the advice and suggestions to help me get to this point. This forum is the best source of info on these cars I can imagine. ![]() ![]() ernie -drivin' and smilin'

That's a really nice car, -definitly not "garden variety" as far as I'm concerned, if it runs as well as it looks then I'm sure it was worth what ever you paid! welcome and enjoy that thing!

Congrats! That is an absolute beauty. Looks very nice, inside and out - sharing my personal preference for a slim, wing free behind.

Very sweet car and rest assured that black 911's are good for a top end at least +10 mph over the others.

That looks really clean. Congratulations! I share your excitement as I only had my 79 SC for a few weeks now. Let the 1000's of errands begin!

I love it!
There is something special abt these triple black Carreras. I also love the clean tail-less back. I'd swap the head light cluster for a later (87-89) style and then you car is perfect! |

Nice Porsche! Welcome to the club. I have a black 1985. This BBS has been a great source of information for my do-it-yourself projects.

The smooth rear deck looks great with the chin spoiler and wow that trim is clean. I would also go Euro headlamps and then you are set, congratulations on a beautiful car!

Find a mud puddle fast! That's just not right clean. Take off your dam shoes clean. Stop looking at it clean.

One very small detail I did notice was that it appears that the PO installed Turbo stone guards instead of the smaller non-turbo guards. Obviously, it doesn't show up on your black nearly as bad as it would have on my GPW.
Looks great! Love the black! Mike

Thanks for all the kind words and suggestions! I would like to lower the car a bit, but I need to work on my driveway first. I can just barely make it from the street without scraping the chin now. And I do mean barely.
I have looked at H4s but am not sure exactly which parts I need from Pelican to make the upgrade. Thanks again everyone. -ernie
