fuel pump plumbing question

The guy who sold my 3.0 to me included this fuel pump that he claimed was used with the engine previously. I'm putting it in my '72 and have a couple of questions.
1) I assume that the left side is the inlet (low pressure) and the right goes to the engine via the accumulator. What's up with that fitting on the right side? Do I need a special fitting and/or line to the accumulator?
2) Has anyone else done this swap and did you mount the 3.0/CIS pump where the stock MFI pump was previously?
3) If so, how do you handle the 180 degree inlet issue? Or is it easier to just mount it somewhere else?
Thanks in advance.

You need a banjo style fitting on the right side. The fittings is open in the center, which allows the fitting on the pump to go through the center of the banjo fitting on the hose. The banjo fitting is sealed with a copper washer on each side of the fitting and secured by a nut on the threaded portion of the fitting on the pump.

Ah, that makes sense now. Could I replace it with a normal inline fitting?

Still trying to make this puppy work. The mounting location of the '72 by the left rear wheel makes it a bear to run an inline pump. How high is the fuel pressure exiting this thing? And is there a reasonably easy way to make a 180 degree at the inlet end?

Sorry to keep bringing it up, but I've got to get the old girl running!

I think that is the right pump for DME engine - looks like my ('86 - 3.2L) pump. It is only good for 40psi or so. I don't know what MFI needs.
I believe you need a gravity feed to the inlet side, too, for it to work properly. Mine is mounted in the cavity above the steering rack. If you have a feed pump for this, I suspect it would work. Not sure if it would "pull" from the rear wheelwell.
Hope that helps,

Doug

The pump is actually going to be used with CIS. The seller of the engine assured me it would work. Is there a site to check Bosch part number easily?

tim, i am not sure, but i think that is the check valve. you need it to hold pressure in the system for hot starting your CIS car.

OK, that makes sense. I'll have to locate the rest of the fitting and/or a line to the accumulator.
