Lost in Atlanta

Hello All!
I am seeking a 911 in Atlanta. What are some good shops to do the PPI? Also is there a local community here that I can tap into to educate me BEFORE I pick out a 911?

I'll admit that I know nothing, but knowing that I know nothing is something. I need guidance. I am jumping car types

Contact the local PCA right away. And, the BBS has a lot of Atlanta and GA members, so you will get tons of help. Bump your post up Monday if you don't get enough responses this weekend. Lotta guys sit on the BBS at work.

Welcome and be patient.

There is no shortage of p-car guys here or shops to take your car to. Here are a few shops to consider.

Bob Sanderson at Performance Imports
6471 Peachtree Industrial Blvd.
770/457-5550

Howard Wright
European Classics
#8 Steve Drive
770/409-9246

Franz Blam
2040 Steel Drive
770/939-6100

Jack Lewis Enterprises
60 Rakestraw Street
770/849-0302

Use the search button and type in Atlanta. You will see tons of members and info.

The first thing you need to do is tell us what year and price range of car you are looking for.
Just saying you want a 911 is pretty vague considering the choices that could encompass.

Stay tuned here and you will get an education about your car.

Good luck.

You might want to narrow your question down a bit. What are you going to use the car for? Street or track or both? Year model preferences, price target, etc. There is no shortage of P cars in this area that might fit.

Thanks for all of the helpful information! It would appear there is a strong community in Atlanta. As I learn more, what I am looking for will become further defined. But roughly - I am looking to have this vehicle to drive every other day or so and then take it up into the mountains or down to Savannah on occasional weekends. I am not planning on tracking the car (at this point…). I want to find a car that does not have deferred maintenance and is already in good shape. Then I plan on taking extraordinarily good care of it and enjoying driving it. I am not looking for a major project so much as a car I will take pleasure in refining and maintaining. I have been told that it is likely that I should focus on 84-89 Carreras. I plan on picking up a book about these cars soon.

Might as well stick to the 87-89 carreras for the better tranny. Actually for that money you should consider a 90-94 911 (964) with a modern AC. Parts and maintenance are more and they are more complex but they are a much more modern car. I have been in a few late carreras (87-89) where some extra money has been put into the AC and I guess I could live with one as a semi daily driver. Have fun searching!

Come to Giovanni's on Saturday around 5-ish. Closest intersection is McGuiness Ferry & Peachtree Parkway (141). Give you a chance to meet some of the local P-car junkies.

Hey guys - give me some more details about the monthly(?) Giovanni meeting thing. I think I'm actually free this Saturday to check out the gathering of cars and people.

Come on Erik,
"I guess I could live with one as a semi daily driver"
Get real, you wouldn't know what to do with a car that you did mess with every other day.
