Cost Refinishing FUCH Alloy wheels

How much does would it cost to refinish a set of Fuch wheels like this in the following 2 ways:

1) Just refinish the chrome rim section of the wheels (leave the white parts alone) to remove the curb rash that exits on about 35% of each wheel.

2) To completely refinish the whole set by removing the paint, correcting any curb rash and other imperfections (not many) and then refinish them as fully chrome Fuchs instead of white.

Ball park cost would be appreciated?

I can't comment on the cost of chroming...someone will chime in as soon as the sun comes up and tell you NOT to do that...for a variety of reasons.

I CAN tell you that Al Reed charges $100 per wheel for stripping them, correcting minor curb rash/damage and polishing/masking/clear coating. I just had my 15x6's done so I know. Obviously it will cost you more to ship them. If you're local out here and you
ve done business with him he'll cut that price some and if you're lucky? He'll give you loaner wheels to keep using your car while he does the work. By the way, Al recommends against chroming. but will do it if you ask.

Chrome is probably not what you want. Factory correct anodized finish will cost more than polishing them out. You have a lot of options in a broad range of prices. Use the search button.

Thanks for the feedback. My actual though was to really have then become fully polished alluminum in stead of having them chromed. Input from you all helped me correct my thinking.....Chris

Jason Cullen sells polished sets. He's a member on this board. You might check on a price of a set from him. Then you could sell yours. You might come out a little ahead of having yours re-done.

You can also do the work yourself. It's a little messy and time consuming but I did mine and averaged about 8 to 10 hours per wheel. That was to strip the anodizing and then hand sand and drill buffing wheel polish each wheel. Then mask and prime/paint the centers.

Doesn't Jason have his wheels finished by Al anyway? I thought I remembered him posting that.

If you already have the wheels I'd just go straight to Al. I can't believe you could get a better price buying a set and paying markup.

Chris,

I can do you a set of 16x6s and 16x7s with exchange for $500 with caps. Which is close to what it would cost you. I have the set ready to ship now.

Wiedman or Reed restored quality, which is the best!
