sorry for the repetition, but I still don't know
Does any body know if the 901 "T" 4th gear, ever came stock in any production cars.
I'm seeing it listed for the 1968 model year, but I don't know if that is a special order or production 1968 item? anyone know? thanks brant |
Nope.
(...hated to see all those looks and no reply) :) |
thanks Bill!
anyone know? there must be an early car buff out there that knows what came in the 68's? brant |

Brant,
Both my "Porsche 911 Red Book" and my "Porsche 911 Buyers Guide" state that the 902/0 four speed transmission is the standard for the US '68 911's. In '68 there were only 911 and 911L models produced for the US market. So the 911T must be a EU model, with the EU transmission (901/10 five speed). But hey, I'm not all knowing... this is what I found in my reference material. (I didn't quite get the question, but I hope this answers your question.) |
The 914s came with a 901 gearbox You may get more info from the 914 owners

The "T" I had came out of a 1970 "Special Option" box along with a B first. Look for the 26:26

cool....
thanks for all the help. by mentioning the "T" gear I meant the gear with the 26:26 ratio and not the car with the T option. the problem with the 914 folks is that those weren't built until 1970 and they don't know much of the history before that date. here is the reference I was working from that mentioned 1968 as the transmission that had the 26:26 ratio in it. since no one has heard of it, I'm assuming it was then only a race gear option like chad mentions: here is the document I was working off of that mentioned the 1968 as the transmission that contained the 26:26 ratio. it lists: - 901/80 - 901/83 (chad confirms this) so I guess my question was "what cars had the 80 and 83" but I think I know the answer: special order cars only. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1124340238.jpg |
