915 Trans Swap

I have '72 911T with a 915 trans that has a noisy bearing on the 5th gear shaft. This is my daily driver and can't afford much down time with it so I was wondering if anyone knew what issues I may run into if I took a known-good 915 from an '84 car and put it in the '72?

Thanks, Marc

Marc, I believe the that you will loose your speedo until you find a way to convert trans for the mechanical type. Also the gearing is different. I think 72 has 7:31 and the 84 has 8:31 so you will have no low end power. There may be other issues that I am not aware of. I'm sure someone will chime in that has more knowledge on this than I do.
