LA/OC/SD (SOCG) Anniversary August Event
Guys,
I know this may be soon but I wanted to see your interest in an additional event for August with a run of course. I know in the past the additional stuff has not been that great but I will try again and see what you think. Dave Cardone suggested that we should have a BBQ possibly at Bolsa Chica State Beach so I propose that we have a run in the morning and then head to the beach and have a BBQ and volleyball at the beach in the afternoon and an anniversary for one year of the South Orange County Gruppe. This would be our own Porsche Pelican event open to everyone here. The beach parking cost is minimal and the additional stuff can all be worked out. I think it would be great to just hang out and talk Porsches. I propose one of the two last weekends of the month. Let me know your feedback and what days are available.

Parking is a flat 10 dollars at Bolsa. Depending on how many people go and how long we stay, there is a great photo op in Huntington Beach next to the peir. 1st street right next to pch, that street is almost always vacant, so we could fill it with P cars. Parking is like 1.50 per hour metered parking. Its right next to the crowded part of the beach.

I'm good for Sunday the 21st, or Saturday the 27th, or Sunday the 28th. I would prefer later in the month however.
BTW, I think Jack Olsen may be able to join us on this one. Possibly anyway. Last edited by 450knotOffice; 08-05-2005 at 09:03 PM.. |

Slightly OT...
My wife and I took the Porsche to Big Bear today and had a blast! No doubt about it, it was hot as hell in Riverside, but once we climbed up to Big Bear it was beautiful. The temp on the climb got hotter than I've ever seen it but never exceeded the 9:30 position on the guage. On the way back down I got rained on (boy my wife and I got that top up FAST!!) and found out that my car does not leak as I was afraid it might. Hooray for that. ![]() We took highway 38 down the mountain and stretched it out a bit. My wife's a good sport. ![]() |

I think it is looking like Sunday August 28th, right now or we push it back to the first weekend in September which would either be the 3rd/4th. I am out of town in September and with all the other events going on it may be difficult for us to get a run together unless it is to one of these other events.
German Autofest - Sept 10th & 11th Dubfest with Porsche running the AutoX - Sept 18th Is August 28th possible by most if not all?

Bump.
OK guys, it's August 9th and we still haven't nailed down a date. It looks like the 28th should work for most of us (except for Beau, who'll be sippin' Mai Tai's on a cruise ship). Chris, what do you think about nailing down the 28th? I think once a lot of us have a date in our minds, we can then try to plan around it. Let's get this thing moving. |

Ok, the date is set as Sunday the 28th. Did you guys like the last route? I know some are sick of Ortega but we tend to get the largest groups with this choice.

This time we have the option of Crown Valley to the beach and we could take PCH down to HB. However as stated above parking is $10.00 per car and the restrictions on the beach are not too friendly. We have plenty of different parking lots and places we could overtake. Other suggestions or places we could meet for lunch.

What about going for a late breakfast/early lunch somewhere close by directly after the run so all can join. Then heading to PCH for an optional run up the coast to where ever and have a beer.
I was thinking we could drive over to Avery/Camino Capistrano (two miles from Ortega) and eat at A's Burger (great breakfast) and In n Out. There is plenty of street parking and we could all park together safely across the street. Just a thought to makes things easy with no surprises.

Sounds good. I just put together the map so far. I will put it up a little later and see what else we can do or add to the journey if you guys would like. I don't want to lose some of you as we did last time. I also will make my cell available the day of the drive for those who would like it or don't already have it so we don't lose anybody or if we do that we can meet up at the next point.
Chris

Guys,
I just realized I am signed up for a 5k charity run in LA on the 28th. I wish I could make it but I can't. Now, if we were talking Saturday... Just kidding, have fun! Dave
