As I'm pulling the pistons from my calipers, I noticed that the outer edge of the dust boots seems to be stuck to the caliper. It's very even--like some sort of adhesive was used. I had to carefully scrape them clean with an Xacto knife.
Are you supposed to glue the dust seals? A quick search didn't turn up anything. Or maybe they were just overheated and the rubber stuck? |

Jon,
Assuming that they are the OEM Ate or equivalent seals ... no sealant is needed or advisable, because the seal is vulcanized to the metal ring, which stays in place very, VERY well -- all by itself, even when the caliper bore is prelubed with Dow Corning 4 or 111 silicone grease!
