911 cv joint rebuild

Maybe someone has had this happen to them too? I reassembled my cv joint (the ball races showed a bit of polish but no pitting)and once all the balls are in, the cage can move, although stiffly, and the center hub is locked. I tried another joint with a similar result. I even tried switching greases. Arghh!!!

sounds like you put them together wrong.

Happens to the best of us, pull them out and do it again.

Thanks for the tips and links.!! I followed the VW service information and now the joints work great. Evidently I was able to put them together with the inner race improperly indexed and this resulted in a hard lock. This board is great. Paul
