Spacers in the back for RSR clone ?
 

what size spacers do i need for an RSR clone based on a 87 3.2 to use 9J fuchs wheels in the back ? Did a search already but no luck.

Aren't you supposed to use 11" wheels? I guess you could use 2" spacers on each side, but the wheels/tires would be too narrow and the track too wide. Might play havoc with suspension geometry to space them out that far....besides it would look funny I think.

The RSR used 11 in wide wheels in the rear. I am building an RSR clone with 16X11 and 275X16 tires in the rear. I am using 8mm spacers. Some of the other guys are running even wider tires on their RSR clones.

930 with the same flares and 9 came w/ ~2" spacers

Bill, they actually came with 1" spacers but the 930 control arms were 1" wider than 911. So you're right on needing 2" spacers.


The early Turbo's came with 225's on 8's in back with those same flares. They look silly nowadays with that combo.

There are several variables. If you chagned the suspension pickup points (ala RSR and 930) then the offsets are different, still. What size flares are you running?

Doug the flairs will be 11" fiber flairs. No change in suspension pickup points.

I have an '73 with Turbo flares front and rear. I run Fuchs 7J front and 9J rear. On the front I have a 24mm spacer (1") and on the back a 60mm spacer (2 1/2"). The rear pickup points are in the standard position and I have SC alloy banana arms. With this setup the tires fit comfortably in the wheel wells, but are far enough out to look pretty good.

Sell the 9's. It will pay for 17x11's.

Roger that,s the setup i will be using to start with. With the sc arms your setup should be same as mine i think ? Your silver RSR looks awesome b.t.w.

Jack your cars looks awesome with the Lindsey wheels would love those but no funds for a complete set right now. A set of 9,s would do about 800 Eur if i sold them here so that won,t get me very far :) This is all your fault Jack all those pictures of your car made me go RSR ;)

Sell them in the UK. A pair of 9x16s in top condition should get you £6-700, maybe more. Try an advert in 911 & Porsche World magazine - you can place the advert on line. At the top end of the market, I have seen a pristine set of polished 7/9x16s at an asking price of £1000.

I wonder what the shipping is on 4 wheels trans Atlantic?

Actually the early 930s are what I was thinking of, they used the narrow track trailing arms from the 911(similar to Dutchie's '87 dimensionaly). They came w/ ~1" front and ~2" rear spacers. The rear wheels were 8s but the 9s will want the same spacers.

I have been trying to figure out what spacers you use for being able to use 7"+9" wide 16" rims on narrow body suspension with 930 flares.

Sounds like the rear needs at least a 50mm spacers due to the 25mm/1" narrower rear track width, probably even more since 9" wheels on a turbo sit inside the wheel well quite far.

However looking at the 75-77 930 PET I only find the standard 28mm spacers being used, with part number 930 331 611 04. Did Porsche ever use a wider spacer, and what is the part number? I know that there are plenty of aftermarket options, but that requires lots of paperwork since they won't be approved for road use without TÜV testing etc.

I know that the best option would be a set of 9"+11" wide 15" rims, however that really limits tire selection and would cost $6-$7k for the set with tires, compared to less than half the cost in 16".
