Nice picks Cliff. I need to do a coastal drive like that, to beat this valley heat.

First meeting at Saulsalito:
Stopping along a mountain road to let the slower traffic pass. A top view of some of the 911s. The white cabriolet is a Turbo. Chris' (cantdrv55) '79 Targa and my cabriolet Eating oysters at Tomales Bay (from left to right: Chris [cbeers], Sturdy, Ag, and Cliff [vash]. Thanks guys. That was an awesome ride, especially through the hills and along the coast. I got to learn some of the cars ultimate handling abilities and what to do and not to do. Sturdy was the leader of the pack. You guys are great! We need to do this again very soon. Chris (cantdrv55), thanks for letting me follow you from El Sobrante.

Breakfast of Champions, oysters and Coors! (champagne would have been nice, but Toby wouldn't have stood for it).
Great hang fellas! sign me up anytime. Nice pics. Looking forward to seeing Beers' I brought the camera, just forgot the battery. Duh. Oh well, next time. Curt, Blue '84 Carrera Coupe color code is 9999VX, "Color to Sample" $1,200 factory option (off original window sticker!) similar to "petrol blue" but not quite as green, although in certain lights... ag

Great fun guys. Why don't we do this more often? Had the best time with my clothes on. Used up 1/2 tank of supreme and my hair still won't lay down from driving 3 hrs with the targa off. Nine fast cars today: 3 coupes, 3 cabs and 3 targas. Weird.
Glad you were able to make it 86 911. Bring sunscreen, water and Advil next time. Just kidding! See you at autocross. Last edited by cantdrv55; 08-21-2005 at 08:58 PM.. |

Did anyone else's oil temp hit the 9:30 o'clock position? Outside temps hit mid '70s only except for the ride home which was maybe in the very low '80s. Does this mean I should hook up an oil cooler or should I try ducting and oil cooler air scoop first?

My temps stayed at around 8:00 throughout the whole drive. On the Mines Rd. run with the bimmer boyz, it hit at about 10:30 (although that was driving through town with temps of 100 + degres). I have the external oil cooler also. With the external oil cooler my temps never have exceeded 10:30. Usually the oil temps stay at around 8:30 on a good day.

yeah, its all artsy fartsy and i look forward to getting a copy to download. that one is frame material.
very good to have met matt, greg, and AG for the 1st time. temps? not even an 1/8" past the warm up line. i was actually looking closely at temps because i just made the switch to a synthetic blend and it seems to have helped out quite a bit. even coming down 280 thru woodside where the air temps were higher i experienced lower temps than ever before. the true test will be my next track day and i will keep you guys posted. my temps at thunderhill last month were 10:30, easy. never had my car that hot before, but i hope for improvement with the syn-blend. i will look for oil leaks where i did not have them before this weekend. thanks again guy, great turn out!
