Snap-On = 1 Year Warranty?

I always thought Snap-On had a life time warranty, until I tried to get a (very expensive) torque wrench repaired/replaced.
Was told it only had a one year warranty, but I could send it to Nevada and pay to have it fixed!!
All my other tools are Sears Craftsman, and there has NEVER been a problem when, rarely, having to take a handtool back.
Did I just get a lazy dealer? Any other avenue to resolve?

The warrentee issue is probably because it is a torque wrench. Craftsman click-type torque wrenches only have a 1 year warrentee as well. They are a delicate tool that, if improperly used, are easily damaged.

some items like air tools and torque wrenches have a limited warranty. wrenches, sockets, ratchets, etc are lifetime, even if the chrome peels. i've noticed the quality is slipping lately on various items. i'm kind of hard on tools because i use them commercially and figure if they break, they are warranteed, so no big deal, but they just don't last like they used to. the snapon guy calls me the product durability tester. i broke several 1/4 and 3/8 air ratchets in the last couple of years, and the turnaround time too long to send them in to snapon's repair center, so i just buy the repair parts and fix them myself.

I'll see if my wife can look into it, she works for Snap-On. My feeling is that torque wrenches will not be covered but maybe she knows somebody who can help.

BTW - the info used to be in the front of the catalog - they do tell you about their warranty

Thanks for the info.
This wrench is almost mint condition, I hope it is just something simple inside.
Back to the old beam torque wrench today following an oil change.

It is a Snap-On model #QJR284E, 150-1000 lb/in. No matter where I have it set, it acts like a fixed socket wrench. (Locked or unlocked.) So in effect, it is not adjustable. The handle turns smooth through the different settings, the ratchet mechanism works just fine.
This tool is new to me (friend died and it was given to me), so I don't know the history, although the PO took incredibly good care of his tools.

Thanks, I'll pass it along. She'll probably talk to someone next week so it might be a few days till I hear anything.
