stuck head nut

Hi. Rebuilding my 1981 911SC. The allen head nut for the #3 cyl. exhaust stud is bottomed out so deep that the stud portrudes so far into the opening, I can't get thing loose. I suspest a pulled stud that someone tried to tighten. Any suggestions other than a sledgehammer?

Contact a professional welder. There was an article several years ago about a new product that allowed welding a hollow stud to a broken stud. The hollow portion fills up with the rod material making a solid extension on the stud. You would probably have to remove all the other studs before the patched one. Lifting off the heads/cam tower as you loosen the “patched” stud. Good luck!

You could try drilling away the top of the stud. You could try making a hollow allen wrench to fit over the stud and into the nut. Neither of these options will be easy though.
