Need help with sparkplug wire order
Hello all,
I just finished my 1st tune-up (sparkplugs/wires/cap/rotor/points) Now I forgot what order the wires were connectet to the distributor cap. Can anyone please help me or email me a diagram. Thanks. 1973 911T |
I have a 79SC. Fireing order shoud be the same.
1 6 2 4 3 5 The left side of the motor from the back to the front is 1 2 3 The right side is 456 Wiht the cap in place the 1st plug counter clockwise from the hold down clip is 1. So you have the order of 1 6 2 4 3 5 starting from the plug left of the spring clip. Hope this helps. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1125248458.jpg |

Careful, I believe the 3 liter SC dizzy spins backwards when compared to the '73 T engine.
Pull the cap off the dizzy and look for a thin scribe mark on top of the metal rim, that scribe line should point to #1 wire when set up correctly. Roll the engine over by hand until you see the ZF mark (or whatever your engine has) line up with the case split line AND the rotor points at the scribe line. As you roll the engine (clockwise looking from the back of the car) note which direction the rotor spins. With the rotor lined up to the scribe mark, install the cap remembering where the scribe mark is. Put the #1 spark plug wire on the cap where it lines up with the scribe line and then on the #1 plug. Following the direction of rotation of the rotor, keep going. The next one after#1 is #6. 1-6-2-4-3-5 and you are done. This can be done with fewer steps, but I purposefully included them so that you can see exactly how it works and how to figure it out so next time it will seem very simple. Unless of course some ham-fisted mechanic set up your dizzy 180 degrees out last time ;) |
