It should go to a microswitch which is activated by the driver side carb. The switch gets power from the RPM transducer(or Speed switch). When you close the throttle at speed, lift off gas as you come to a light but haven't put in clutch yet for example, above about 1375 RPM power is supplied to the solenoid and gasoline is sprayed into the cylinders to prevent lean runon. That's the backfiring you get when you lift off the gas pedal at speed. Really it also helps emissions, and that is way it is there. Mine is disconnected, and when the carbs are tuned well, I don't get enough backfiring to bother with hooking it up. Besides the gurgling makes the car sound like a racecar. Hope this helps.
