RSR Spindle Height
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the stock spindle height should be on '74-'89 Bilsteins? AND, how to measure (from what point to what point)? I just bought a used pair of RSR coil-overs on eBay and want to confirm that I got what was sold to me.
Thanks, Marc |
Someone will know for sure. I'm remembering 18mm raised over stock.

Measure from the bottom of the spindle to the bottom of the strut. Compared to your stock strut, it should be 19MM higher.

Yeah, that's my problem, I don't have anything else (stock) to compare it to here at my shop. If someone wouldn't mind measuring their own strut, then tell me exactly how they measured it, I can get an apples to apples comparison. Thanks for the help.

Marc,
Take a picture and provide the measurements? Someone can verify, too. |
Good idea!! The photo is a little distorted, the tape really indicates 4" right on the money.

In case any one else was wondering this same question, I got it answered today from another source. Measuring from the bottom of the strut housing to the bottom of the spindle collar (as shown in the photo) a stock Bilstein strut will be a 3.25". Mine is at 4" thus confirming I indeed have what I paid for and everyone else's general understanding of approx. 19mm raise for the RSR (along with the other obvious differences.
Thanks to everyone who helped and hopefully we all know a little more about our fabulously unique cars!! |
Great follow up - one for the archives!

Same 4" measurement here too . These are Penske(Kelly Moss) front coilovers.
