Hi beam switchgear question

I have a 1989 Carrera silver anniversary edition in excellent condition, bought a couple months ago. The left-hand stalk for putting on the high-beams makes a pretty loud click when going on and off, loud enough you'd think it would eventually break, and certainly not relatively smooth like the rest of the switchgear (and the car). The car has 115K miles on it and I have no idea if this is the original switchgear but I assume it is, so obviously it may have survived all these years as is. Is this typical of '89 911's?

My '81 SC does the same thing. I have to push it harder than I feel comfortable, and it has a loud click. The turn signal stock is similar. It works OK, though, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Ha! I envy you fellows whose cars are so new the only noise you have to worry about is a too-loud click from your dimmer switch!

Maybe you can grease them? Not sure which grease to use though...

Yep, if this is the worst to have to deal with, then things are pretty good. I just didn't know if a) it presaged imminent failure of the switch or stalk, or b) there might be a way to take it apart and smooth it out (or grease it, yes). I'll just live with the loud click and turn up the radio even more. Thanks to all who replied.

I recently put in a new turn signal stalk. The new switch has a pretty stiff "click".

For what it's worth, my 77 930 high beam stalk makes a loud click, also. It appears to be the original, too and it works just fine.
