Learning about Carrera Engines Tech Session? In SoCal?
I'm learning about my Carrera, but realize with recent problems, I really don't have a clue as to what I'm looking at under the hood. Sure, I can pick out the fuel injection, alternator, distributor, and other items, but basically, I don't have a clue what a lot of the stuff is, or what it does. Has anyone ever hosted a "Hey, here's what's under your hood, and what it does" Seminar. I'm pretty knowledgable about basic car stuff, but how about a pcar (carrera) tech session. I'm not talking about a Bruce Anderson course, but a local 1/2 or one day thing locally. For me Southern California. Any thoughts?

Terrific idea. I'm in the same boat and would love something like this, a sort of anatomy of a Carrera with insights and tips toward repairs (at least I could benefit from that as well). I think one day would be the right length.

The man to do this would be John Dayton in Signal Hill. Now, whether he'd do it or not, I don't know. But, anyone who knows him well might ask. Centrally locatad off the 405 at Cherry Ave.

This might help. http://www.realmeangarage.com/multimedia/ Then click on 3.2 Carrera engine assembly. Its a pictorial I did a couple years back that may answer some of your questions.

Here's another LONG thread on how to assemble a Carrera motor that goes into pretty good detail. This was rebuilding my 3.2L into a 3.5L. Some of the parts obviously wouldn't apply to you as it wasn't a stock rebuild, but you'll get the idea:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=186906&highlight=3.2L+t o+3.5L Since you are in SoCal, you should join us on one of our Orange County runs that we would do every month, I (and others who own Carrera's in the group) would be pleased to answer questions that you may have.:) Ralph |
Thanks all great sites! If someone wants to pull a Carrera engine in SoCal sometime soon, I'd be willing to come over and help for the learning experience. Especially if you know what your doing!!

Jerry Woods has a complete tutorial class and its not expensive. Except for the DME, the 3.2 isn't all that different from the other engines...
