I revisited the Sudschleif web site recently and found that it now includes a video of the 1971 300 K race (last video on the bottom). In addition to the cars listed above, there's also some great footage of other cars and drivers from the era.
Enjoy! ![]()

That was cool. Love the dominance of the 911 in their run group. I don't know if that is a combined class but those 4 ST's were gone!
btw, did you see the picture of the white "ST" at 1:59 on the video. It looks like a SWB car that had later flares installed. That or they were running some serious toe-in on the rear. Thanks John!

What a blast! Great shots of the 2002s.
And what is the pace car for the Porsche race? Looked like a Mercedes 600 Grosser! Thanks for that link. Very cool.

I did a little more searching and found these results for those races. I could have sworn that one of the drivers with the curly hair was Ralf Stommelen, but maybe I'm wrong. Here's a picture of Ralf.

dumb question, but do other people have sound? I assume this was recorded on a non-sound-capable Super 8.

Great post - some wonderful period footage there!
Was that Hans Stuck getting into the BMW 2002? Don't miss the 1960 sidecar race, those riders are really amazing. Markus '80 SC Targa |

Unfortunately -- no sound. It was filmed on Super-8. Remember this was the '70's!
(PS: Funny, I don't remember the 70's having such a rose colored tint to them, but then my dad insists that he remembers that the 40's existed in color! I think that he's pulling my leg! ![]()
