Not sure if this review has been posted before, but it's certainly worth a read

The specs of that 996TT entered by Protomotive is 862.8HP @ 1.327 bar
![]() Check out the dyno graph at the bottom of his URL: http://www.geocities.com/protomotive/dynos.html Over 800HP from 5Krpm's to 7.5Krpm's. Absolutely Mind blowing! ![]()

Hmm...impressive power but that dyno graph looks like something kids overhere get when they install Garrett GT40 on 2L four-pot with hot cams.
Heaps and heaps of peaky power. I wonder if those track times wouldn't be better with a little bit less boost and smaller turbochargers that start boosting earlier.

Errr... what's quicker spooling that twin Garrett GT28R's?

As you probably already know, there is a difference between "quick spoolup" and "low boost treshhold". You can have a turbocharger with very low bearing friction and low shaft intertia, but it won't save you from late boost treshold and long as impeller/turbine is too big for given engine volume. If turbo is mismatched, there is no ball bearing in the world that will rectify it. With other words, sleave bearing turbo with smaller turbine will start boosting sooner than GT28RS "Disco Potato" even it will have higher bearing friction. (Worthless knowledge: "Disco Potato" is a nickname for GT28RS, it's compressor map looks like a dancing potato) P.S. BTW, article states that they used "T3/T4" hybrids in Promotive car, not GT28RS? T3 is old school turbo that usually boosts around 3000 RPM on 2L volume...T4 compressor is biggish compressor (I guess they used T3 turbine and T4 compressor) and 1.6L volume per snail would push this quite high up the rev range. Impressive output though.
