Great map tool for fun runs!
If you haven't seen it yet, check out "Google Earth". There is a free version for download that is incredible. Full search and fly-by views of the entire planet! You will not believe how cool this map tool is. Blows Mapquest away.

are you sure you arent talking about google keyhole? type in a location and it zooms in, however, the images are about 2-3 years old.

i think keyhole is part of it, but this is an executable program you install. impressive detailed views that you can see from any vantage point.

Is there an online mapping service that will print out multiple stopping points? I know Encarta does this, but I don't have a PC.

I've been on the site a few months now and it blew my mind when I first got on it. Yes the shots are a few years old unless you purchase a membership which can run up $400 for proffessional use for topography and survey services. Certain sensitive areas, like military installations, are masked for obvious security reasons.
As I understand it from some homeland security buds they can spot the head of a dime from the sattelite. Amazing. I have to think twice before me and the honey skinny dip in our pool. |
I've had it about a month now. It has to be, without a doubt, the greatest time waster on the Internet.
Meaning that in a good way. If you don't have it, you're missing something really cool. From Ground Zero to Area 51 to bomb creators and airfields in Iraq, the resolution is incredible. It's not just a dorky arial map. You can circle, tilt down, search for stuff, put in an address, see your house...etc... map roads, add 3-D buildings, web cams, on and on. Well worth the bandwidth. |
