Lightbulb 930 non-start solved

Yess Sirreee,

Finally, my turbo has sprung into life again.

Talking about Murphy... Engine was being spun the wrong way by the new starter. I'm gonna shoot something...

Soooo.... I had fuel, I had spark, I had everything except for the wrong momentum.

What a nightmare. I am in the process of 'discussing' resolution with the vendor who sold me this starter. Watch this space to see if he wants to resolve this amicably or if he really wants this publicity...

What do you think; I lost use of the car for almost two months, spent countless hours checking everything, gave up and had the car towed to a dealer who also spent two days. And I haven't seen their bill yet. What seems reasonable?

doesn't it cause internal damage to the chain system/valves etc. when spun the wrong way?

Spinning it the wrong way does mean no oil pressure siunce the oil pump doesn't do anything in reverse. The strangest thing is that you can actually get it to fire when there is enough fuel around. Fills up the complete intake system with smoke though... Unlike my old two cycle bike which would start and actually run halfway decent in reverse. Great surprise when you engage gear and drop the clutch...

quite possibility the chain will slip on the crank gear.

ps: I've slipped the chain by hand spinning the eng in reverse.
